I have no licence at all right now. A few montsh ago I thought about learning to drive for teh first time in Japan. So i went down to my friendly (hah!) neighbourhood driving school.

First, they said it would cost 300,000 yen or so for the basic course. Fair enough. Then they said it would probably take about ten months worth of lessons before I might be ready for my first test. They said that was assuming there was no language barrier. In other words, that school makes Japanese people study for 10 months first. Then of course they said it was unlikely I could pass on the first time. They kept repeating how difficult it was to learn.

So I asked them directly. "I know it is difficult, but can you teach me?"

Their answer was not "yes".

Guys, if someone asked you if you were able to teach English, would you ever answer with anything other than a direct "yes"?
