Hi,

I'm getting my "STUFF" together and need some advice on whether or not the following document (if completed properly and notarized) will suffice for the required criminal background check to obtain a work visa in Thailand?

http://bit.ly/nWlgr

Question
Thanks

Dwight Z.

There really isnt a standard for the CRC yet in Thailand. Each labour office and imm office accepts different things. Basically just dont get an online CRC and you should be ok. If it is signed and stamped/sealed by a police station, it should pass. If you can, get a VSS or Vulnerable Sector Search (may be called something different in different areas) as it shouldn't cost more or take longer, but is more in-depth.

Thai love fancy seals and stamps and signatures. SO anything with those will probably do. The whole CRC regulations idea is good, but was a knee-jerk reaction by the Thais in response to a couple of "pervs" found teaching here over the past 2-3 years. It has never been fully thought out and probably never will be knowing Thailand.

Once you get to Bangkok, go to the Royal Thai Police (near Siam BTS station) with a passport size pic (although they take your picture there anyways, you never know-they love getting pics here), passport, 250 baht or so...fill out the form, get fingerprinted and in 2-3 weeks you will have a Thai CRC which is accepted by most offices. They MAY ask for a letter from an employer, but usually not.

Good luck!

Thanks for your input. I guess it's a case of hope for the best and plan for the worst.
