To answer your question about the garbage it is our company that handles the information regarding garbage. He didn't get it in time and apparently it was this first time offence that broke the camel's back.

If it were only that simple perhaps we would have taken him to court, as numerous people in our building had had garbage returned to in front of their doors. If it is merely a matter of putting garbage out on the right day why were only we targeted for eviction because it seems it happened a lot with other tenants.

As for your confusion..

Got a few months rent free in a new place, ironically constructed by the same builder, an exact copy of the original place. Basically we were only asked to pay the security deposit of 500$

"Only"? You just gave him a precedent for making the same money on the next schmuck who he wants to leave based on the old lady's whining
.

The security of 500$ was on the new place we got through the agency. They didnt make any money off us due to the whining of an old lady. In fact they had to give us 3 months rent free and waive all usual fees when signing a new rental contract. Sure we still had to put up the securty deposit on the new place but will get that back if we ever leave this new apartment.

The landlord himself has made no money off of us whatsoever. In fact he just lost his biggest client pool.
