We did have some heavy rain in our little Nagano valley. Started mid afternoon and stopped about 30 mins ago.

I'm already feeling a little cheated ...wait...

(cig break disguised as sky checking and back 5 mins later)

...Rain is starting again. Looks like we are good to go and might see some action yet

But seriously, we've been told that we won't likely see the brunt of it here, surrounded by mountains as we are as well as to location, and that schools here are shut more as a precautionary measure - until 5.30pm we were still being told that only lessons were cancelled but that teachers would still be in school tomorrow. I'm not sure how the the lower, flatter parts of Nagano are fairing though. |

Got a call tonight at about 8pm to say schools are shut tomorrow and not to bother coming in. First time I've ever known that to happen while I've been here.

I keep getting told this one is a real big one. Maybe, I don't know, but I've experienced dozens in Nagano City while I've been here and we never get the wind, only endless rain. |

It's 3AM here in Hamamatsu in Shizuoka prefecture and the winds they-are-a-blowin!

I live on an island on the SE corner of Lake Hamana and am situated to the north of the ocean. I'm in a great place for tsunamis!

Anyway...

The tentative plan for students and teachers is to report to the school at 1 PM. We'll see if we get the full day off or not on Thursday.

More news later,

got to work and found out that morning classes had been canceled.

Still have to be ready for tomorrow.

I have been here for 9 nine years and I can't remember this happening.

In the past I would show up and would expect up to half the students not showing up.

Out at Tokai University same story. Classes start after lunch.

Weird weather today. Drove up to Tokyo from Kawsaki. It was raining hard in Kanagawa and visibility was low and it was foggy but by the time I got to Mitaka I could see some sunshine. It was very windy though |

				| Classes cancelled here as well. Much like the Nagano person, I'm not quite on the brunt of the storm either. But it is very windy and dark out at the moment. |

Even the JTE who drove me home yesterday can't remember schools being closed like this even back when they were in school.

After the rain last night, its mostly let up. There were a couple of short showers this morning but now its bright and my neighbour is even putting out some washing... I think that's a bit too brave, but whatever.

We didn't have any wind at all; just heavy rain.

We had worse weather during the rainy season. |

Well that means I can finally get the laundry done. It was piling up since we have had 4 days of rain.

May as well get some housework done. |

				| It was probably the most intense combo of wind and rain we've had here all year. Morning classes were canceled at my university. Afternoon classes are still on though, grr.... |
