He was here last week. I expect that he is still on Eid break and perhaps out relaxing before the fun begins. Cool

It is clear that from your posts that you are convinced
that you still have a lot to offer in the classroom, - so I was
sorry to learn from your!!!thread, Duffy,
that you had been "put out to grass".

Earlier this week I heard that the standard retirement age
was being raised to 67 in Germany. And, that in the U.K.,
66 is being mooted for the years ahead.

Geronimo,

I'm not out of the field yet!! Have managed to get some work teaching English. That and taking on a Dip & MA TESOL should keep the old grey cells alive and kicking!!

Thanks to Little Old Lady and VS for their comments but there are others who have been here a lot longer than I.

Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Really, there are others with much more experience of education within Oman.

One of those to whom I must tip my hat is Mr Neil McBeith.

I recently read a paper that he wrote about education in Oman - now this IS the man who has an in-depth knowledge of the Omani education "system". Read this and you will understand what I am saying.

I hope to be able to interact with this most eminent of Omani ESL educators whilst researching my MA.

Duffy, you might want to take a look at the DevelopingTeachers.com websites articles...
Neil McBeath has a few in there amongst them all...

http://www.developingteachers.com/articles_tchtraining/articles_index.htm

Also, Tom Cobb did some research into reading rates at SQU
a while back....

Good luck with your studies!
