Hello all. I'm currently teaching life skills English state-side with Burmese refugees (Karen/Chin). I'm looking to travel to Thailand to continue working with these populations in the camps. Has anyone heard of or worked with the Burmese Volunteer Program or the International Rescue Committee? Any assessment of either program would be terrific. If you have knowledge of other programs providing assistance in the camps that need English teachers, I would love to hear about them. Thank you for your time!!! |

Check out the web site: http://www.drumpublications.org/
The guy running all that, Tim, is the man you should talk to—he has over 8 years experience intimately working with these groups. He would also have all the info you are interested in and could provide you with valuable introductions.
Good luck. |

There are also a couple of orphanage/schools somewhere in Kanchanaburi/Sangkhlaburi. Sorry, I can't recall the names right now. |
