Very few EFL teachers get that as a first offer, though I know some who have been with the same place for many years who get that high.
And I also know newish PhD's who get less than that. So... yes... it is a very good offer.

Hey VS.
Rumor has it, that seems to be near the starting salary for folks with MA's and 5 to 7 years at HCT.
I know of a of a few folks here who have started at that number or at least in that ballpark. |

Well, littleoldlary, DH18,000 = 3066 /m, I think still under the UK average salary for your credentials and experience! But, with the current recession, people are losing their jobs in UK, just take it until further notice in life! |

Hi Adorabilly... long time no see. I know a few that got offered $15-16... so it may depend on the type of experience.
And 007... you're forgetting a huge factor in your comparison... TAXES!!

Just worked it out. To net that amount in the UK you have to be earning roughly 57K and a bit. Taxes go up to 40% over a certain threshold. Been there, done that. |

It's a great salary. Compare it with some of the offers their getting over on the Saudi forum. And Saudi Arabia is hell on earth. |

Ahmmm...lol, it's NOT "D'uh"...it's "D'oh"! Not being a content teacher, I'd suspect it being on the low end of the scale, but secret agent man has a point. At this time of recession, any harbor is a safe port.
Don't get me wrong, that salary is nothing to sniff at, but I'd try to negotiate...but knowing the history...
The worst thing they could say is "No". Da ball's in yer court...

I would not try to negotiate that salary. It's more than they offered me, and I still think they were fair to me. |

P.s.- this software is sucking HARD! I keep getting some error message and being told "Invalid session" and to "resubmit the form". It's FRUSTRATIN'!!! Kind like: "Fatal Error" messages...
