What does that mean? Baby seals or seal pups are not acceptable? What kind of lunacy is that? Yeah umm here is a police report that I forged and am confident that you will not notice. I guess in the States that's a felony. Isn't it?

Regards.

Dear LofH,
Good heavens - don't you know how those raised seals are harvested?

Does THAT have your seal of approval?

Regards,
John

I would take it to mean that wild seals are not accepted, while those that have been raised by humans (either on an individual basis or at a seal farm) would be acceptable. Just show up with your report and an obviously domesticated, tame seal under your arm and you should be fine. Shocked

I just received my visa. I didn't need a raised seal on my police report. They accepted the city report, stamped and notarized at the station.

Gork,

Did you show up at the embassy with a baby seal from Marine World?

Er...he referred to a "raised seal". If he'd shown up with a baby seal, he'd referred to it as a "being raised seal".

Some English teacher you are...simp(-son)! Laughing

I thought a depressed seal on prozac and serotonin on the letter would also be acceptable.

Dear also in saudi,

Chaudhry's phrase explained (the urban distionary)

"tough titty
a.) An insincere or sarcastic way of saying "that's too bad", or "deal with it"
b.) Short version of the phrase "'Tough titty', said the kitty, when the milk went dry."

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=tough+titty

But I hope/think that Chaudhry was being sympathetic rather than sarcastic.

Regards,
John

Thanks, John.

I thought the phrase might have been inappropriate for the forum and inadvertently overlooked by the moderators.

Living in northern New Mexico. I am envious.

Fantastic, so I gotta turn upto the visa section with the following;

1 police report
1 seal raised by the police department
1 fully weaned kitten

Maybe I should take a wild seal along .....But thank goodnes I dont need to take along an enveloupe too.

Dear also in saudi,

Yup, I LOVE it here in Santa Fe.

And my most sincere congratulations on using the correct "envious" rather than the so commonly misused "jealous"
(a pet peeve of mine, as you might suspect.)

Regards,
John

Psst... john... my dictionary website with 5 different dictionary/thesaurus sources has them as synonyms in each one... I loved this example sentence which I found appropriate to this situation:

I have never sought to make my readers jealous of my megastar lifestyle.

But... I know what you mean.. Laughing
