Hi,

I will be starting a job in China in a month. For the last week I've spent hours and hours reading this forum. It has been very valuable and I thank those of you whose advice/comments/warnings have applied to me. But I'm coming over anyway.

I have a plethora of respiratory problems. But I grew up in Los Angeles and have survived in large, dirty, smoggy US cities all my life. Air filters have always worked for me. Are they available in China? Can dehumidifiers be purchased?

Thanks for your help.

Peggie

Peggie,

These items are certainly available all across China.

Are you looking for hepafilters? That sort of thing I haven't seen here in China. They do have regular ones but that may not be good enough for you; it certainly doesn't do much good for me. I have asthma (among other ailments) and when i was home last i brought back some hepafilters with me. What a difference. It's amazing to see how black they turn so quickly. I can breath and the air in the house is so nice. I even ran it during the winter from time to time (when i wasn't in the room). Of course they will not fit into the types of a/c they have here, so you just fasten it over the a/c the best you can with tape and string. Looks like hell but it filters out all the pollen and Luoyang filth. Unless you get an exact lead on where to purchase Hepafilters (or something like it) I'd say bring some over. You'll need it.
