Flash News Update: management have over projected the need for teachers here. They seem to be doing well for the first semester with 25% less teachers than they said they needed.

Rolling Eyes Oh, not again!

When do they ever get their projections on the mark?

This was good information TLOH and it should stand as a shout out to anyone who is thinking about (or depending on) 'employment offers' from the KSA, especially when they come from universities. I've seen this sort of thing happen with several universities over the past few years.

Hi All

I'm no expert, yet when working with recruiters..(that is when there are no direct hires available at the time) you do have access to more jobs. Also, you could temporarily take a job at lesser pay, at least you have secured a job and can always change jobs later.

Take only what you need and leave the rest. H.

Sounds logical and simple, but it ain't necessarily so!

Remember that in order to switch from one job to another in Saudi, you need the infamous NOC (No Objection Cert) - you can't just up and go to the cushier job down the road. Many if not most employers don't give the cert, certainly not if you break your contract during the first year.

 :( Goodness, people in Saudi making salaries this low are unskilled and generally from impoverished countries. Qualified teachers should never have to take this low of a salary, especially in Saudi Arabia. I like Saudi, but it's a real tough place to work, believe me!

What would you consider to be for the KSA:

Low salary
Mean/Median salary
High salary

TIA

IMHO:

Low salary: less than 11,000 sar/month

Mean/Median salary: 12,000 sar/month up to $5,000 US

High salary: over $5,000 US to $10,000 per month

Anything over 10k is extremely high and some people do make this.

If you are 'working' for EDEX then you are in Saudi illegally.
