That's true. However, they are contractors and all have (or recently used to have) contracts with oil/gas companies here. Their teachers are mostly paid in sterling; perhaps because their particular instructors are British.
I admit that I don't know what the majority of direct hires are paid in; although I believe (from another poster's info) that Sirte Oil pay their direct-hire EL Trainers in sterling. Mind you, I have been told that Sirte only employ EL trainers who are a max of 50 years in age.
