Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone here has worked with or knows someone who was hired for a teaching job through www.teachanywhere.com. They advertise as a "free" service/recruiter (which immediately makes me suspicious). I posted my resume a few weeks ago on their website (when I was considering my options). Then, yesterday I got a call from them. Anybody know anything about them?

Do a quick search on them and "ADEC" here - there are a number of threads about them. They are legitimate from what I've read.

I've been offered a couple of jobs with them. Usually low-paying, or not so good schools. The top and middle of the range schools tend not to advertise with them.

The worst thing about this organisation is that they advertise non-existent jobs. Sometimes they just copy and paste off a school's website and post a 'job spec' or a 'sample job' for a specific country. It's a way to reel in your CV.

You think you're quoting a job ref. and applying for a specific post at a specific school with a certain salary and curriculum, then you get offered something completely different!

Give it a go, but it's hit and miss. See what you're offered but the bottom line is: don't get too excited about any jobs you see advertised with them.

I agreed with that. I was one of their victims this August. They advertised jobs in Oman but had no idea that the recruiter hadn't even had their contract approved. One of their team is very rude on the telephone and not much better face to face. They recruit for recruiters so imagine how much of your salary is being shaved off!

They hire for bottom-end employers just as Search Associates does. Similar client base if you look closely. Neither has much to offer in the way of good employers. Sad

Search Associates doesn't hire for anyone. You might want to try getting your story straight before posting.

I don't think that's a fair comment about Search Associates. Search do have some top schools (BIS Jarkarta, ISB Bangkok, ISKL Malaysia and lots of ACS schools all over) and I don't agree at all that they recruit for recruiters or anything dodgy like that.

I use the Times Educational Supplement website (tes.co.uk) and Search. Between the two you pretty much cover all the decent international teaching jobs.

I have yet to hear of a top school that didn't use either TES or Search to advertise their vacancies. I simply wouldn't bother with agencies anymore, although Harrow International Schools (Bangkok and China) have started using TIC recruit.
