That's exactly what I've got in mind.

Depends on what age group you prefer teaching. After you answer that question for yourself, you can compare pay and benefits.

University level EFL has fewer contact hours than the schools. So, IMHO, university teaching is easier.

Clearly. You post a question, get the answer, and 4 years later pop in with the qual ready to go. Nicely done!

Keep us informed. I am 3 years behind you with similar goals.

I will. Smile

Bahrain has been suggested to me. Comparable remuneration to Saudi there?

Another poster who thinks jobs in KSA are easy to get and pay well.

It ain't necessarily so. For decent jobs you need qualifications and EXPERIENCE.

What do you consider "good pay" or "paid well" for the KSA?

TIA

OK... take these as generalizations... but I'd say no as to the comparable pay and there are very few jobs in Bahrain. It's a tiny place. Saudi pays the best for those who have lower credentials.

For someone with good credentials... MA + 3 years of related experience or the same proper credentials for the schools, I'd say the pay scales run approximately in this order:

Saudi/UAE
Qatar
Kuwait
Bahrain
Oman

I can only speak to university jobs, but as always the first job is hard to get depending on your experience prior to getting the MA. I wasn't up to reading all 4 pages here to see what your experience is. Laughing One place that pays quite well and hires MA+0 is Qatar University. Oman also has employers who will hire entry level, but the pay isn't stellar if that is your only reason to go to the Gulf. Living conditions vary greatly.

If I ranked the above by living conditions, I would put them:

Oman
UAE
Bahrain
Qatar/Kuwait
Saudi

All JMHO, of course.

There is no way to give you any single monthly figure for any country. It is based on level being taught, employer, and your particular credentials. Go to the branches and do some research. Cool

Cite a range, please. Bracket the info to be useful and answer the question I posed.

I think I'll leave him to learn the search system here... good for the soul... reminds me of my students who used to not want to bother to use that danged dictionary when they had a teacher nearby.

Their demands weren't met either... Laughing

Sometimes it is difficult to come up with the desired results by doing a search on here.

I have read a few tens of thousand posts here on the subject for 4 years prior to my registration (yes, back to 2005), and whilst I have a good handle on the salary ranges, I always seek out new data points. Since you have direct experience in the ME, you would have direct knowledge of salary and could help out, add to my research. I only have 4 friends in TEFL, and only one in the ME. The others in Thailand, Colombia, and Japan.

You could post something like:

[This Position] with [these quals] earns [this salary] in [this country].

You chose not to.

You could assist newcomers to this profession by answering the question. It would assist with negotiating our own packet.

It is unfortunate that you chose not to help.

Here's a tip, type in "salaries qualifications" into the keywords search box and limit it to either the country or region you're interested in. I just did it on the General Middle East Forum - got a lot of hits including info about what you're looking for. Took about 30 seconds including logging in time.

Doing this little bit of research will help focus questions so that we can give more specific help info - it's not meant to be mean.

Unfortunate that you chose not to try to help yourself first.

Sorry but questions like yours are asked ad nauseum - the poster asks it once but expect others to respond multiple times. Tone of "voice" through writing is hard to convey - unfortunately yours has come across as being demanding.
