Agree with Helen... with the next tier being:
ECAE, PI, UoS...
And BTW... you pretty much need an MA+3 years related experience for all of them.

I am sorry, I am not familiar with the abbreviations! Some I can work out, but others not. |

HCT?
Really?
Even though they s**t all over the contract on a regular basis?
Looks like I'd never make it in this job , in this country. |

DC, really? I can appreciate and understand your comments about what has come about due to recent HCT expansion, but I think that you are maligning a generally decent employer here.
I disagree that they $hit ALL over the contract on a regular basis.

I'm reposting this, as for some reason it appears to have disappeared over the night.

While the VC attempts to make various whimsical changes with the aid and abettance (sp?) of his super duper directors - he is (fortunately) either hampered by pesky labour laws (not always effective at HCT) and the non-cooperation of those outside HCT.
(AUS for example has hired exHCT employees who have given proper notice despite the unwritten "gentlemen's agreement" supposedly in place between HCT ZU AUS and UAEU)
ADWC has been iffy at best in the past, looks like the incompetent have risen to their "level" once again. It's also too close to the VC's IMHO who tends to side with students, whether it be legitimate or whinging complaints.
The VC has got his UAE passport - most of the HCT employees do not.
If you can keep under the radar, do your job, choose carefully who you associate with and talk to honestly - you can survive - most of it is common sense. If you think you'll get fairness 100% of the time, you're living in a dreamworld - anywhere in the world. |

this gentleman's agreement is a moot point if you've completed a contract. |

Dear heleni,
"AUS for example has hired exHCT employees who have given proper notice despite the unwritten "gentlemen's agreement" supposedly in place between HCT ZU AUS and UAEU."
What! You mean there are gentlemen at those places? Who knew? |

These people hadn't completed the contract, but they gave proper notice.
And yes, the former President at AUS was a gentleman from all I saw, heard and read.
It was the only tertiary campus I ever visited in UAE that looked and felt like a "real" university. Hopefully the current president is keeping up the standards set (perhaps even raising the bar higher) by his predecessor. |

ahh..you need to complete the contract. At least the gentlman's agreement then becomes a moot point. why didn't they wait to apply until after their contracts were up. Surely they must have known they would faced these hassles? No point at howling over injustices here. |

I can only speak about the 3 people I knew from HCT who hadn't completed their contract but gave a full semester's notice - as required, to leave in the middle of their contract. This was before the VC tried to grab back EOS benefits.
Perhaps it has changed since. |
