Can one reasonably earn 12,000RMB a month in Guangzhou?

I have a B.A. and an American passport. I am currently teaching in Taipei.

Would a university job and part time language school job add up to 12,000 a month?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

Check out Linguaphone, they have a few centers in Guangzhou and offer teachers (last time I checked) 12,000 RMB per month starting salary. Here is their website:

Cheers.

Most universities and colleges in Guangzhou pay around 5000RMB - 8000RMB per month. That includes accommodation. Then add a part time language job and you should be able to earn around 12,000RMB.

Where is a good place to find Guangzhou jobs? Is there a website specifically for Guangzhou?

Working hours are typically between 14-20 hours per week depending on the institution.

What time do you get off which will allow one to work a part time job?

In Korea, low level university English teachers often work split shifts. Making it impossible to work a second job.

The hours at Universities are low as someone mentioned less than 20 hours per week and salary is circa 7K per month.
They usually start haring around summer in time for the September start.

OP,

It is illegal to have more than one employer (a uni and a language school) at the same time in China. Do so at your own risk.
