There are three taboos for teachers here... sex, politics, and religion.

Though if you do want to use them, you want to elicit ideas and not "imply" things like "is it too late for Taiwan". (Since Taiwan was, is , and always will be part of China Wink )

However, if the students *themselves* bring them up, it's fair game. My students have criticized the CCP from time to time in class (and foreign governments as well) but I am sure to *not* offer my opinion on that.
