Never lived there, but lived in Casa and used to go up to Tangiers for IELTS testing with the British Council.
It does have a somewhat seedy reputation, maybe that is part of its charm...
Cheaper than Casa, quite dull on the nightlife front but you can get beer in a few divey places. Good markets, Spain just over the water, so nicely placed to escape from at the Weekends. Quite a conservative city, more so than Casa, better eating out options than Casa though, AND there is even one eatery that serves beer, near the port!
There is also a pretty good Indian Restaurant, owned by a clan of Welsh guys.
I would choose Tangiers over Casa...but all in all, I'd be on the other side of the Straits, given half the chance  |
