MOD EDIT asked the students to sign a written agreement that he would do all in his power to make the lessons interesting. In return the students would show respect by;
i) Attending classes regularly and on time.
ii) Not using mobile phones or surfing the internet in class
iii) Speaking English only during classes.
The students unanimously refused to sign this document. The Centre management felt unable to contact their parents to twist their arms on the grounds that the contract between the Centre and the parents says nothing about any requirement for academic study, discipline or achievement by the students.
MOD EDIT has therefore resigned. The grounds for his resignation have been agreed with the Centre management namely that the centre's problems outside his control render him unable to do his job.
I will leave it for others to comment because I think I have said enough previously. |

| this is one reason its important to get a grip on the students from day one. let them know who's in charge from the outset, do your job properly, treat the students fairly, and the chance of a "revolution" in class are much less than if one doesn't observe the above points. if the students dont respect you from the beginning, you've lost. |
