Two of us are looking for TEFL jobs starting in Jan. We are both CELTA qualified, and we were wondering what the market in Lisbon is like. Is it easy to get jobs if we just turn up there at the beginnning on Jan?

Thanks.

With passports from an EU member country....there's a reasonable chance you can get something, though I hear the market's tight there at the moment, as everywhere else.

Ain't got no dosh mate to go nowhere...I'm grounded...and basically that is the basic problem; given enough time and resources and ON LOCATION, you are bound to find something but I am down to 1,000 and what am I gonna do? Nada... Confused

Germany; I can work in every EU country except this one (need a work permit here and in Austria); the irony. By the end of the month I will be broke and be heading back to the US for the first time in nearly a decade to live with mommy...I fucking hate my life. Crying or Very sad

After reading your posts for some time and seeing how much you want to live in Germany. Why not just live in Szczecin, Poland, It's but a short train ride to der Hauptstadt in Germany and you could probably make enough to live fairly well and make some trips until you figure out a better way to live in your Vatterland. The idea of throwing in the towel makes me cringe and I hate to see others do so.

We both have UK passports and enough to get by for a month or two till we find jobs. Has anyone been in a similar position, and what do you think our chances of actually finding work in Lisbon are?

We're not fixed on Lisbon, anywhere on the coast in Europe would be good, has anyone got any suggestions. We're new to this, and we're not really sure where to start.

Thanks.

This forum is probably the best place.

Madrid would be a good start. It's starting to pick up at last. In my academy the current teachers are starting to get full timetables and I've been told that they'll have to start hiring in a week or two.

I don't really want to stay or live in Germany. I have, I believe, explained on other threads what my long term goal is. But with less than 1000 euros to my name, there isn't much moving to do. All I can afford is to survive for this last month and a plane ticket to the city of my birth (which I hate)...being in Germany is convenient in some respects and not so in others. Not having seen my parents for 8 years though it is probably long due anyway...and it may be that they can aid in the master plan...or maybe not...in which case I will go to Saudi or Qatar if possible...

Saudi is the place. If you pardon the metaphor, it has saved my bacon on more than one occasion !
