There seem to be 2 camps...those who write and say nothing about the situation, and then others who will contact you privately and give you both ears full. It's hard to believe that there are no problems at a place, yet they are dreadfully slow in processing applicants and don't keep their promises very well, in my experience. Look through the old posts on KAU, I did, once upon a time, and they don't get very negative ever....but then again, nothing positive is ever mentioned either.

Where are the newly-recruited KAU teachers gone here? Discusisons and questions over KAU issues were posted daily. What's strange is that all the loud voices a couple of months ago are now fading away and almost silent.

I would love to hear about the current situation of KAU's new comers and how they are adjusting.

Dear freesoul,

Some possible explanations:

The urgency is less - getting info is usually regarded as being more urgent than giving it.

They're quite busy and overwhelmed with both their jobs and with getting so many other things taken care of.

They may not have internet hook-ups at home yet, and might feel a little leery of using a work internet connection to log-on to Dave's.

All of the above

More than the above

None of the above

Regards,
John

I was just wondering the same thing. Months back, oh about June, there were literally daily threads on KAAU Jeddah, with all sorts of food fights and word wars taking place, occasionally resulting in Mod Edits or even Locked statuses. (shouldnt it be "statii"?) Now lo and befuddle, I havent seen a darn KAAU topic in months. Did they get sucked into a Vortex?

And where is Rigel? He had much to say and ask.

I think its the no-internet-hook-up-yet reason. Is there anyone out there who can call back here from the Vortex and give some feedback?

u r right! maybe it's because of the lack of internet connections ..but he is happy...and as they say silence is a sign of happiness (or satisfaction). He is busy getting the apartment fixed and adjusting to the new environment but tells me he is happy and the staff are so nice and friendly. The students are on average good but at beginner level...I'll be going there as soon as I get my passport back from the embassy, unfortunately the clash with Haj season has delayed my departure but the university has been very supportive and helpful in getting my paperwork done quickly. Hope that settles some of your queries Smile

Dear Mr. Mead,

Thanks for the confirmation. But, of course, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Very Happy

Regards,
John

They are probably all busy getting exit visas now as it is my understanding that there is a holiday from Nov 18 to Dec 4

Add Hajj to the mix and you may not see a visa till December or January

I am not optimistic.
