Really? What a western, jaded, unspiritual view to have developed. But it sure is understandable, given the low-life behaviors of most men. So in the end, I'll give that a 51% thumbs-up. |

There are some women who choose to be a housewife. Some mothers actually would like to take care of their own children. What is wrong with that? |

Nothing. In fact I felt 49% that the "nothing worse than being a wife" comment was jaded, pessimistic and unspiritual, as I said. |

So that wasn't a sandstorm. Just an immense sigh of relief from all the males in the peninsula. |

I sighed too. What can we do with all these femi-nazis? |

Nothing. For them. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
For me, the thought of being identified as somebody's 'wife' and spending a lifetime trailing him around the compounds and villas of the Gulf, is indeed a most unenviable fate. Others might think that spending years of your life teaching English in KSA is a sad state of affairs. And that's fine. I don't require others' approval in my lifestyle choices, and I assume nobody requires the same from me either.

You gotta say this for our Steve: his misogynist 'jibes' are original, mature, and oh so piercing! I guess when you never actually deal with any real live women, making outdated stereotypes about them becomes a tad easier. Though not a tad less cringeworthy for all who witness it. |

Gotta admit, though, that sandstorm thing threw me for a loop. Outdated? Why? |

Cleo's living proof that you don't need to be married to fulfill the stereotype of the nagging wife.

Stick to your own job and drag hubby around the compounds and villas of wherever your job takes you.
Living in the Gulf seems to have given you an absurdly outated stereotype of what being a married woman entails. |

Gotta agree with Steve here. Being married does not have to mean being subservient to one's spouse or blind obedience.
It all depends on what type of person one is and what type of spouse one would like. Just like not all women in the world like to trail their husbands from place to place, similarly not all men in the world are the type who want their wives to trail them all the time. Some men actually want an educated, intelligent, and independent wife, with a mind of her own, and a career as well. |

Unfortunately, in the Magic Kingdom and elsewhere, some women actually do not want an educated, intelligent, and independent husband, with a mind of himself, and a career as well. These women want to control their husband and trail them from a mall to a mall like a dog! |
