Ya'll did it again! The last thread became locked before I could even get my two cents in. What's up with that? I thought the thread was going along so nicely....

I think everyone should be a wife, just to see how it goes. And for those who have never been a husband, then give it a try. Maybe you won't like either role and so permute into something new and better....

I was thinking that the KSA might be tough for women on many levels, but then again, how could I ever know that? It seems that women in the gulf, in general, are more responsible for the perpetuation of Islam than the men. Thanks for the stories and related tidbits.

Since the topic has been revived maybe I should clarify what I meant by 'a wife'. I did not mean someone who just happens to be married. I meant a woman in the "Jumeirah Jane' or "Kompound Kathy' mode - a woman with no career, and whose whole life revolves around her being a 'wife'. I would have thought this was fairly obvious, given the subject of the OP, but anyway, I stand by my assertion that for me personally, professional wife-dom would be the grimmest of fates.

And those of our male posters who might scoff at this might like to ask themselves if they would be content with the status of professional husband, the subject of sundry threads about how "I 'bringing' my husband to KSA and wonder if there'll be anything for him to do during the day while he's waiting for me to come home from work. Hopefully there will be a nice swimming pool and gym so he can entertain himself in my absence, and it would be great if there are some other husbands around the compound for him to socialise with".

If that's what anyone of either gender is into, fine. Not for me.
