The way I see it is, if the package doesn't meet needs then there is no obligation to take the job. I know of schools that pay less and I know of schools that pay more, this is a personal choice. Some people choose EF as they want the experience it offers, other people choose EF because believe it or not, the hours suit them. There are teachers here who enjoy the fact that they don't teach until late afternoon as they can make the most of their day times.
Others enjoy working Saturdays as they need time to establish themselves and gain networks, therefore they like that they do not have walk the streets of Jakarta alone or stay in bed watching TV for want of something to do. Their lifestyle is not to be judged and all jobs can meet the needs of some people.
At the end of the day as Ozindo says, at least an honest picture was painted of the expectations from the organisation. Better to know what you are getting yourself into and an informed decision can be made.

And yes, you definitely don't want to have to pay the Rp2. mil fiskal tax when you leave Indonesia. It's a tariff the gov't charges basically because no one can tell them not to. it's for rich Indonesians shopping in Singapore and Hong Kong (who don't like it any more than we do) and foreigners who were in the country on a tourist visa - a real nice kiss good bye for them! |
Um, pardon me, but do tourist/sosbud visa holders REALLY have to pay the FISKAL? I haven't heard about this.

Hello everybody.
I can honestly say to you that I have nothing bad to say about the Swara group as I work for one of their EF schools, and it is great!
I am a senior teacher, and I have just signed on for my 3rd contract, which I'm actually quite excited, and happy about it, and of course I enjoy working here immensely!.
EF have been very good and open to me through the whole working process. Good times. |

Bmoore, you could try the following for EF Swara contact numbers:
www.englishfirst.co.id or www.efjakarta.com
If you have any specific questions, I could try and help you. |
