Khafji is an OK place if you like sea-fishing, horse-racing, kiting (kite surfing). I flew a kite surfing trainer kite on the beach in Khafji every day for a year and on return to the UK discovered that I was deemed an advanced Kite surfer by the IKO on account of having done kite flying in Khafji! Other friends in the kingdom had no idea why enjoyed the place so much. There are all beaches in Khafji where you could do land kite flying too, just check with the police whether or not it is a family beach. The horse racing track is good, minus gambling, and there are often races to watch. There is a permanent fairground nearby with dodgem cars and similar attractions. The best fishing was from catching the KJO boat or helicopter to the offshore oil rigs, but even the beaches were teeming with fresh fish to catch.
