Well, I tried camel meat cooked with rice and Zangabeel. It is very delicious and has zero fat tolerance!

If you want more information about baby camel burger, check this link:

I don't know about burgers but when I was in Qatar I found a place that sold baby camel ("hawar") shwarmas and they were damn good. Juicy, tender and tasty as hell. My vegetarian sister has never forgiven me.

I make an excellent camel curry. Camel meat seems to be mainly for stews or roasting; luckily nobody has hit on the money-making idea of burgers or camel mince, and the tradtional parts of a domestic animal used for a steak might be a little tougher on a camel which tends to do more than walk from the cowshed to the meadow.

For cooking camel meat you can use any recipe for pork and it will work out well.

They put so much shit, hormones and water into beef now, that I have more or less given up on buying anything but ostrich, camel or mutton.

To me burgers are stupid. Meat is not 'supposed' to be pulverized and then reformed. If you want to eat meat, eat it as it is, cut up into cubes, steaks, or fillets.

And I have had camel and ostrich... both are amazing. Very tender and tasty.

Is camel meat a regular every day kind of food or rare? Can it be found at a local supermarket? Is it expensive?

My colleague made a pizza once with ground camel meat on it. It was different but good. Other than that, I haven't eaten much camel meat. I've seen it often at the supermarkets such as HyperPanda.

I have enjoyed fresh camel milk. That was very good. Especially good is the fatty foam that is separated after the camel is milked. Dip a date in that foam and it is great. Yummy!

Dominic -- most supermarkets sell camel meat.

ecletic -- as I said I've never seen camel steaks for grilling or frying like a beef steak. The meat is either stewed as for kabsa, or barbecued.

Definitely good for stews and curries, and available in a Panda store near you.

It tends to be a bit tough, so it is better stewed or slow cooked in some way.

I tried it once, didn't like it. Exactly for those reasons.

Trapezius

Ground or minced beef and the derivatives therefrom, viz. hamburgers are a boon and a blessing to those in our midst who are toothless !

Not all of us have managed to keep a full set of gnashers !

Dear scot47,

Breaking news: False teeth (i.e. dentures) have been invented (I use Fixodent with mine.)

I look on false teeth with the same disdain that the Wahabis have for wigs. It is a form of deception and a sign of human vanity.
