Hi Vealsediments and McDuffy. Steppy-boy got in touch with me and after reading your posts accusing him of being deluded and pathetic, needing psychiatric help, he said that he was "tickled pink" and never laughed so hard in his life. He obviously thinks it's all highly amusing, but wants us to know that he is serious about wanting to set up a website to expose the Ministry and invite teachers who have worked or are currently working for the Ministry, to contribute to it - and this is the catch, "without censorship".
Actually I think you are both wrong about how unconcerned the Ministry is about what is said of them on sites like this one. I distinctly remember how at Sohar College, the Dean wanted us all to sign a document stating that we will not "demean or despoil or insult or slander " the Ministry in any way whilst employed. Many of us refused to sign, with some teachers going so far as to say that as Westerners, they are used to freedom of speech and will in no way, abrogate or give away their rights to "fairly criticize" where appropriate. I am proud to say I was one of those teachers who refused to sign that hideous document, along with Steppy-boy. So therefore, when you claim that the Ministry couldn't care less, Steppy-boy strongly begs to differ, and I have to agree with him on that point. You see, in this part of the world, words are taken very seriously. If you don't understand this, you don't understand the culture here. Steppy knows very well what he's doing. |

Geronimo wrote, "A year or so before you arrived at Sohar College, natureguy, a teacher was fired for physically assaulting a colleague. Subsequently, steppy-boy, started waging a vendetta"
Actually the person that Steppy-boy allegedly assaulted was a raving ranting British Muslim convert who knew the July London bombers personally. If anything, Steppy should have got a medal if he actually did assault scum like that. Time to come clean Geriatric and tell the whole story. Steppy for those at Sohar College was a hero. |

Just get a life Steppy/Epicticus
(Preferably away from this forum)
Quote: |
Epictetus (Greek: Ἐπίκτητος; AD 55AD 135) was a Greek Stoic philosopher. He was probably born a slave at Hierapolis, Phrygia (present day Pamukkale, Turkey), and lived in Rome until his exile to Nicopolis in northwestern Greece, where he lived most of his life and died. His teachings were noted down and published by his pupil Arrian in his Discourses. Philosophy, he taught, is a way of life and not just a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are determined by fate, and are thus beyond our control, but we can accept whatever happens calmly and dispassionately. Individuals, however, are responsible for their own actions which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline. Suffering arises from trying to control what is uncontrollable, or from neglecting what is within our power. As part of the universal city that is the universe, human beings have a duty of care to all fellow humans. The person who followed these precepts would achieve happiness. |
Hmm are you really happy "Epicticus"?? I think not.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epictetus (not that I would normally include a citation from this site, yet, it seems appropriate)
