Woa this thread just reminds me of situations I have witnessed when others were trying to be a) salacious and or b) cool.
Eating pork in Riyadh exciting? How exciting for you, I suppose the guy that was contemtpalting bringing in the scotch was wanting to achieve the same thing- or be kicked out of course.
Yep it reminfds me of the good old days, way back when I inhabited high school with a whole bunch of tetosterone crazed pimply boys, they got their kicks out of smuggling and drinking vodka in class. They were sooo involved in themselves that they didnt notice that most of the teachers a) could care less as long as their oses werent rubbed in it b) smoked in the company of a Mary Jane.
Try knitting, I hear its a wonderful and super exciting pass time- I for one will be hunting with my falcon and hitting the dunes with my quad bike.... |

John,
Same thing I quit drinking while I was in Saudi, but when I was in a civilized country that was a different matter.
Several times I missed my flight at JFK to Dhahran for I was stuck in the clipper club, so I got the red eye back to LA called my boss and told him I would be there the following week. They got used to me, so what they would do is book my return flight LA to JFK to LA to JFK to Dhahran. Ah those were the days of the clipper club.
