Hi,

I'm new to this board! I was just wondering if anyone has recently had a telephone interview with KAU and could let me know what kind of questions they will ask me. This is the first teaching job I have applied for and I have just finished a CELTA course, so I am really new to this! I was just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on what to expect. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply!
God that's a long time to wait! I know Arabic countries are slow at paperwork, but I didn't think it would be that long!!!

SNIZ,

Thanks for your reply! I know I should be expecting an interview with a female as it's for the female department so fingers crossed! Good luck with going out there! I hope you enjoy it!

Hey,

I was supposed to have the interview last Wednesday, but never got the call! So I'm just waiting to see if they call tomorrow.
Thanks for asking!

there were no difficult questions for my interview but I am sure they ask many different questions to the prospective teachers

if you have a masters in education, there questions will seem fairly elemntary

I would not worry about it

Worry about getting your visa in less than a few months

Condisdering the long wait time is it customary to apply for jobs prior to receiving your degree? I don't graduate until May (MA in Linguistics) but I was going to wait until it got closer to the date of graduation to apply for positions.

Thanks.

Time scale is unpredictabls. One thing is sure - it will not be timed for your convenience. Apply now - what harm can it do ?

I agree apply sooner, like March or April, cause they are so slooooww with the hiring and visa process

get your resume and info out to some agents too

I met some cool agents while hunting for a job over there

I already signed a contract though before most of the other offers came in

School may start in October but a lot of contracts start in August.

You may be able to teach ESL part time in the states while finishing your degree

Not next year. What has happened for the last two years is that the Academic year has ended at the end of August, but with Ramadan in September classes haven't started until the beginning of October.

This coming year the Academic year starts on the 25th September; which means that at last we'll all get a three month holiday :)
