I posted on this thread about 2 hours ago and it's mysteriously disappeared
I'm not typing it all out again. I just want to add that having read Hank's account of life in that city in Anhui, I would definitely advising giving that gig a wide berth. It appears there's two foreigners and they both get treated appallingly by the locals to the point they don't want to leave their apartment. |

Oh dear, I think I've stumbled in to a private AOL Messenger chatroom by accident. Sorry about that, I'll just put on a record...

LMAO, sorry about that, old habits die hard I guess, and its not often I meet a travelling lady in these parts I tell you, god I miss Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Skye, Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Miri, New York, Vancouver, Nelson, et al
Lol bad luck ilunga, youve left me in suspense now though, what was the gist of your original post? lol, yeah im going to give Anhui a wide birth. To be honest anywhere with the name "coal industry" in its school title isnt going to be a garden of eden is it? |

You either teach the really little ones who will listen to everything you say and are very eager
OR
You teach the university students who are mature and are taking your English class because they want to (not forced to by their parents).

Well, I'm not sure if I would agree with either of those. It depends on what students or what school, or on how good you are with those students.
Anyone with experience knows that kids can be a handful, and their parents moreso.
Many college students in CHina are there because...they don't know why. They think english wouuld be easy, their parents told them to (usually), it is the only program they could get into, the state told them too, and yes, some because they wanted to.
(I'm a college person myself, I think) |

| To be honest i'm prepared for a challenge and honestly believe I'll be able to cope with whatever the little brats throw at me! lol, luckily my limited teaching experience in England should help. I'm thinking of trying to get a teaching assistant possition here for the rest of the school year to help prepare me for China but I dont know if that is possible? Going to look into it anyway but from what i've heard it takes months to get your criminal records checked so this might not be possible. |
