A friend told me today about a three-month program in Thailand, where I can get teaching experience and take the course for the CELTA certificate at the same time.

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction on this? Starting with where it is, how much it is, web site for more info, and so on?

I have been told by a few friends that to do a CELTA in BKK would be uwise, due to the usual unsavory connotations.

The program itself is, however, completely the equal in all locations and must meet the same standards as one in the UK, US or EU.

Check carefully because there are several variations.

A genuine CELTA must give teaching practice. Normally this happens in the afternoons after the theory.

Some schools offer courses which "lead to a job", but the job can be in crap places. There are many postings about these.

There are some very good CELTAs in BKK. Most people won't think you are some kinda sex freak just because you did it there. International House and other big schools do CELTAs in BKK.
