Does the Saudi Embassy require them to be in a sealed envelope or is that the Visa Processing agent's request? I am banging my head on the wall right now. For some reason that I can not explain, when I faxed my request for transcripts there was a place for two requests on the page. I put my address on the top part and for some reasons, I thought it was a good idea to put the address of my Visa Processing Agency on the bottom request. After 4 phone calls and three weeks waiting, I finally was told that they had been sending the transcripts to the Visa people, not my address. So apparently there should be a couple copies (at least) of my transcript at the office of the visa processing agency. What a mess. Now the Visa people are telling me to go ahead and send in my paperwork, sans the sealed transcript. I have a transcript, but it is not in an envelope. Grrrrrrrrrr. And I'm not even dealing with the Saudi people yet, just plain ole incompetent Americans.

Yes, the Saudi Embassy wants the transcript to be in a sealed envelope sent from the college you got your degree.

The procedure: You request a transcript from your college. The college will send you a transcript in a sealed envelope. Without opening the envelope, you send it to the embassy.

This may give you a better idea of the document certification procedures I followed when processing my visa [without the help from an agency] with the embassy in Wash. DC.

University Degrees
For verification of university degrees, the following should be sent to:
Saudi Cultural Mission
2600 Virginia Ave. Suite # 800
Washington, D.C. 20037

a.Name of applicant & S.S#.
b.Name of Employer.
c.Name of the Courier Agency. [NOT needed if you give them a prepaid envelope (UPS,DHL...) to send all documents back to you]
d.A letter stating the reasons of for requiring Authentication.
e.A copy of the employment contract.
f.A copy of the applicant's passport.
g.A certified copy of the applicant's college/university degree.
h.Updated official transcript (in a sealed envelope).
i.Name of the college/university and telephone number of the registrar or the records office.
j.Verification letter from the registrar's office including applicant's SS#. (School ID number), and the telephone number and the contact person in the registrar's office.
k.Written consent to allow the Saudi Cultural Mission to verify the degrees

I followed the procedure: Three times. Still no transcript.

RJBSD,

I dont know why you are having such a problem receiving your transcripts. I have never had a problem. Either your doing something wrong or the people working in the Registrar's Office are extrememly incompetent.

make sure you put your and only your address for your Official transcripts to be mailed to your house or have them sent straight to the Embassy itself. If you send it make sure you do it certified mail so you have verification that it was received.

The form I sent off was divided into top and bottom. A request form on the top, and another request form on the bottom. I filled out the top, asking for 3 transcripts (free) sent to my home address. Then for some reason, I decided to fill out the bottom half with a request to send 1 to the Visa Agency. After repeated calls and assurances that they had sent transcripts out 2 or 3 times, they finally realized they were sending them to the Visa Agency address. Why on earth would they put a place for 2 requests on the form, but then ignore the top part and only send to the bottom part? that is what I am stressing over. I THINK I have the problem solved at this point and hopefully there is a transcript in the mail coming to my home address. However, my hopes of beating the Thanksgiving and Eid holidays are not going to come true now.

Dear rjbsd

Inefficiency, incompetence, and cluelessness are by no means restricted to Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom, however, has raised the bar to a new, and probably unsurpassable, high.

Regards,
John

Thanks for all the advice and help. I finally got a transcript. I am surprised the Post Office delivered it because my street number is 10000 (Ten Thousand) and the college sent it to 1000 (one thousand). Rolling Eyes

Funcky, the checkoff list I got from the Visa agency that my employer wanted me to use was over a page long.

I have an English Degree. I do not hold any ESL certifications. But I guess they don't care.

Why am I doing this? I recently lost a very good job and have taken a much lower paying job. I really don't want to return to teaching, but if I can combine my love of travel and curiosity about other cultures with it and make more money, and be able to actually save money, I am willing to give it a try. Plus I am of the age where I have done all I can for my children and am ready to experience life and challenge myself before I get all old and senile.
