				| To cross from Zhuhai to Macau and back to Zhuhai can be accomplished on foot very quickly...depending on lineups...maybe 20-30 minutes. Can this be accomplished in Shenzhen at Huanggang/Lok Ma Chau crossing
or through another?Sort of quick exit/entry to mainland.
Every time I made this crossing in the past,it was when going to Kowloon for a few days and always by bus.
Purpose of doing this is to kill two birds with one stone... scout out the territory for ESL jobs/lifestyle and make my annual exit/entry to mainland. My schedule is tight and I really don't want to go to Kowloon at this time.
 Thanking you in advance.

				| when i go to hong kong from shenzhen i always go via the shenzhen bay customs border crossing. most times (barring weekends and major holidays) i cross there there's no lineup at all and once in hong kong i board the B2X bus for tin shui wai train station and then make my way via train from there. do the opposite on the return trip. this is the fastest way for me to get to hong kong, but if you were starting out closer to luo hu then it wouldnt be. | |

				| thanks for reply Cleric but I really don't want to go to HK.......just get an exit stamp in my passport and then re-enter to get the new entry stamp. As I mentioned, this can be done in Zhuhai in 20-30 minutes...simply walk through China immigration (exit stamp from China)) then walk through Macau immigration (entry stamp for Macau) then walk in a different entrance and reverse the procedure.....20 or 30 minutes usually. So you have now satisfied the annual exit from China rule and have the stamps in your passport to prove it... xiong

				| I'm a bit confused !
I've heard of a number of rules such as the "5 Year Rule" and the "Over 60 Rule"; but this is the first time that I've ever come across the "Annual Exit from China Rule" ! Is this something new ?

I have been in China for about 7 years - during that time I have only been required to leave the country for Z Visa purposes, as a result of being offered a job at a new uni. But when my contract is extended, all the paper work is done within China, and I have not been required to leave the country.

Yes, this can be done only (as far as I know) at the Shenzhen Bay Bridge border crossing in the Nanshan / Shekou area of Shenzhen. You just cross into Hong Kong and right away do a U-Turn outside of the customs office and back into Mainland China...easy as pie...plus there is one Duty Free shop on the Chinese side where you can stock up on smokes and booze.

If so, I have never heard of it, either!

Just over eight in my case.

I last changed job in-country in February 2005 but I never had to leave the country and come back in again at all! Then again, both the old job and the new job were in the same city, so that may have had something to do with it.

Same with me! Mind you, the one thing that you haven't mentioned (at least here in this thread) is whether or not you're married with children to a local. I am, so maybe I'm not subject to this "annual leave rule", if, indeed, such a thing does exist.

Mind you, between October 2008 and August 2009 alone, I technically left and came back into China no less than five times, anyway!

				| Chris,
No, I am not married to a local woman !

If there is such a "rule", it wouldn't be too much of an imposition for me as I usually leave China during the long uni summer and winter vacations. But such a "rule" would be a real hassle for those who, say, intend to work in a summer camp during the vacation.

				| thefuzz.........thanks for providing the information. It's exactly what I was looking for.I'll test it out on the 7th.Sounds even closer than
the entry/exit facilities in Zhuhai/Macau...both immigrations
 under the same roof.WOW!

To clear up any misunderstanding about the one year rule......I took a
sabbatical from the constraints of contracts and teaching then after 2x30 day "L" visa extensions,I went to HK and got a 30 day "F" visa. This I extended twice for 6 months in Qingdao through a visa agency and the main PSB.The problem with these short visas is that you must exit once per year. And that deadline for me is the 24th December.I simply took a break and now the break is over.I also am intending to scout out Shenzhen and probably get back in harness very soon.I really enjoyed myself.I have a Temporary Residence For Foreigner from the local PSB and have not had any questions or trouble when renewing. In fact, one of the PSB at the main station here mentioned that it wasn't a good idea to spend a long time on toursit visas...get an "F" or work and get a Residence Permit. They have been very good to deal with.At least here. So,if you have the money and want to relax and travel as you will, that might work for you, too.Sorry for the looooooong story!

Yup, everything under one roof. Great place to go if all you need to do is get a stamp.

 Cheers.

				| What used to be called "Huang gang" is now called "Futian kou an" and you can do this there, it is all in the same building. Queues are usually small, except maybe middle of the day on weekends. You exit into HK at Lok Ma Chau station, so I guess you can just turn around and go back in and cross the bridge.
I am confused though, like others, as to why this might be necessary...
