Finally the apricots bloomed and I have received my e-tickets. I will be flying for Riyadh on Monday (30/11/09) and then to Hail on Saturday (05/12/09). I decided to stay few days in Riyadh at my friends as the University doesnt open till the 5th. Please feel free to let me know if you have any advice before I fly....
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions you have provided so far.
Happy Eid |

Okay...I think I'm coming to understand the position of many a Saudi Arabia veteran posting to a Saudi thread is intentioned by a reformer's agenda. I saw the same thing in LA. An attitude of many experienced teachers toward schools providing little support to a staff: Why participate in a school that won't rise to a level others have? Doesn't participation result in continued stagnation?
Thanks, NCTBA, for your brevity and directness. |

I totally agree about keeping your expectations low. Know that you'll probably encounter some difficulties in some way.
Try to get the most out the experience. Try and make friends with the locals. I've been able to make many good friends. For me, the only other reason besides my salary for going back to KSA are the many friends I've made.
Good luck!

| I think Railway3 is a direct hire, so he wont or should not have any problems. He is going to Hail, and that is where I was and I had my problems with M Trading. Railway3 is not being hired by M Trading, but he is in for a big surprise. The only problem I can see is the housing as they were putting the direct hires in the same hotel as we were in, and it was not very good. The good thing is the direct hires get paid on time. When I looked at the pictures of the university it was fantastic, but when I got there what a difference. All the buildings were under construction, and it is going to take many years to get it like the pictures that they had posted on the internet. Be careful. |
