yeah, unfortunately it's a band i care deeply about and want to produce stuff people would actually want to look at. Wink

If you care so deeply about them, you wouldn't be on a forum asking us about breaking copyright law, the venue's rules, and quite possibly the band's rules. You'd also wouldn't be recording them without their permission.

Just sayin'.

hm, i've seen a lot of contracts for bands and they're all pretty standard, and it's common for the band to have never seen them. they're drawn up by management companies, not dudes who hold instruments.

perhaps i'm generalizing, but with a band like AC/DC, who has a history of being pretty normal about allowing 1. fan taping and 2. ugly photos hitting the press, i'm willing to bet they don't really care. but it's japan, and maybe they, as a band, have less input about such things.

"care deeply" means "i am a big fan and i am willing to break a few rules to get a personal keepsake". such is the life of someone who is a fan of music. perhaps others don't understand that?

the question was not about ethics, morality or anything like that. it was simply "do you have direct experience with doing this thing or seeing someone else do it?" and "what happened when you did this thing" or "what happened to the person who you saw do this thing?"

if you have experience, please inform.
if you don't, then well...

Just take whatever you want, the worst they'll do is take it off you. Its not like its going to sour the image of foreigners in Japan or any other OTT rubbish, as hundreds of Japanese will be trying to do the same thing, nor will the band care what you do since the chances are the quality of the recordings will be of a standard only you will appreciate, and its not like there aren't a million other videos of AC/DC already on youtube. If they didn't like them they'd be deleted almost as soon as they were uploaded (trying finding any concert footage of Prince, for example, he's notorious for it). If anything most bands see it as free advertising, and it works, so much so that I've gone and pre-ordered a ticket for the Sunday show and am looking forward to it!

But if you do take a bunch of poor quality recordings, please don't upload them for general viewing on youtube, it sucks having to sift through twenty rubbish cuts on mobile phones and digital cameras looking for one decent video.

Enjoy the show, let there be rock! Cool

Hmm, I have to wonder. It is true that some bands are very generous when it comes to fans making bootleg copies (the Grateful Dead were famous for that when Jerry Garcia was alive, not sure about now).

As to the arenas themselves, the OP is probably correct in that he may only be booted out, but yet, he may also lose his camera/cellphone as well (while they delete what is on it) until they see fit to return it.
I would have to say, what happened to paying for a concert and just enjoying that Shocked Confused Cool ?

Be that as it may, I too enjoyed going to an AC DC concert many years ago (probably '82), so let it rock (and may the OP tread lightly and quickly away from the arena security Wink )!
