I'm looking at getting certified by this organization in Progresso. It is a part on-line, part parctice teaching course. Has anyone heard of these guys? They are not very informative when I talk to them, and their cost is 1/3 of most other places. They guarantee job placement, but I'm concerned that this could be a "pay for what you get" situation. Any info would be most appreciated.
Also, anyone in Chiapas? How is the lifestyle with the Zapatistas? Is safety every an issue for you? Thanks again.

Do a quick search Dave's ESL or this forum for Teach and Travel...that's the name of the place, or was the name, in Progresso. Valuable insights to be had here. |

Hi Cramp,
I was working in chapias for four months last year Sept - Dec and I'm heading back this week. Never had any problems safety wise there. It's a really beautiful part of Mexico. If you get the chance visit chiflon, it's a water fall nearish Comitian.
Hope you make it to Chapias

Hi Cramp!
I work at an ESL institute about 20 minutes away from Progreso and some of the people training with this program have come to work for us. None of them ever complained about it and they, so far, have been prepared, humanistic teachers. I would say that it's a good way to get hands-on experience and a teaching certificate. |
