I am thinking of moving to Sendai and would like to know what the ALT situation is there.

Are there private ALT jobs there?

Is it mostly JET?

How much in roads have dispatch companies made in the Sendai area?

any info would be appreciated

(I am too old for JET and have been a ALT for a number of years and visa is no problem)

I'm not here to offer you answeres but I will second your question. I love Sendai and would like to move there at some point after I finish this JET thing.

I will. I'll probably max out his JET thing. But I miss things like moutnains and snow and real trees... And Okinawa is too freaking hot for half the year! I'd much rather be too cold than too hot.

Sendai used to use JETs and their own in-house ALTs. I know competition for the in-house jobs was stiff, and they actually demanded skills and experience.

Ask over on BD and they'll know the current details.

(Sorry, this post is no use what so ever)

Check out http://www.sendaiedu.com/workinghw.html

5 years of working experience as a JET ALT is needed according to the Hello World web site.
