Hmm, did you do a search? I remember seeing some in the past. While I was working in Saudi, I encountered some of their former employees who did not speak favorably of them. I also remember they asked for a lot of hours for a very low salary, relatively speaking.

For anyone considering working at SAUDI-BRITISH CENTRE SBC, if you are well-prepared for the lack of professionalism and both blatant deception, go for it.
There is a long list for not signing up with them
1. You will be relocated overnight. You will wake up and find yourself literary thrown into a plane for some dodgy contract they got somewhere in Madina, yanbu or maybe Jizan.
2. Their pay is the worst among language schools in the market with even heavy split-shift work load. ( BTW, the late evening class ends at 10:30 PM OMG). Beware, in the contract they might state youre required to work for about 40 hours a week, but they dont explicitly say what are the contact hours or office hour. In other words, during the high season weeks- in summer- you will wake up at eight, teach at their summer camps, do some evening classes and go back home some time late evening deadbeat; and you cant simple say NO as it is still within your required weekly load.
3. You will need to develop your skills of exercising office politics. You will have to choose at some point between the academic gang headed by Dr. ( Saudi) or the admin gang bossed by Mr. ( Egyptian). Its what I used to call a circus management run by a bunch of part-timers who care about everything but not the welfare of the teachers as they are rarely available to answer you concern, being busy with their full-time morning jobs.
4. They lost so many lucrative contracts with government and private institutions due to their lack of professionalism and honesty. So they will probably try to sell themselves to you by bragging over this. NO! they no longer got these contracts. They now depend on their walk-in customers. BTW they dont have any marketing team, so prepare yourself to go to some primary or secondary schools with some senior sbc admin who will show off having you as the blue-eyed native speaker. So you will do marketing occasionally.
5. This is just the tip of the iceberg, pm me if you need more horror stories.
I know some teachers there who actually started hating their job because of the way they were treat by SAUDI-BRITISH CENTRE SBC. Try to avoid it as you still can and even pass the word to save teachers from the misery and degradation they will face at SAUDI-BRITISH CENTRE SBC, especially if they are newbies to Magical Kingdom.
Simply, its just not worth it, unless you are too desperate to get in to the magical kingdom as you have no certificates. |
