Has anyone worked for this group in Saudi Arabia? I have an interview with them and wanted to get others advice and input. I have been teaching in Mexico, and, was looking to experience a totally different culture. Thanks Very Happy

Try doing a search using the button above. Use the button that says "search for all terms." You will have to search very hard for anything positive. Language schools in the KSA are the pits... lousy pay, long hours and abusive management. This is not a country to be in with a bad employer... you are already stuck in a restrictive no-booze, no-women environment... and often with an illegal visa and/or unable to exit the country.

Personally, if you don't have good credentials and are limited to language schools and your goals are cultural rather than monetary, go to a place like Morocco, Egypt, Syria, etc... Check out the other board sections.

Let me echo these sentiments. This employer might be acceptable as an entry-level job BUT almost invariably you would be better choosing one of the government sector jobs here.

See other threads on that.

They're a disreputable operation. While I was working for a military contractor, their representatives were hired to come in and evaluate the program. All that seemed to result from it was them sending out job offers to half our staff after observing us in class. Probably one of the worst jobs you could get in the kingdom.

They seem to have some sort of Wasta with some places that will get them through with lucrative contracts; however, they always manage to be kicked out after their first or second if they were lucky- pilot venture.

Some of Saudi-British Centres past contracts that were flushed away because of sbcs admins utter incompetence were: Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, Jeddah Telecommunication College, Air Force Institute and many others.

I dont know how they managed to sneak into Taibah University. But, if you end up there, you will be a sub-contractor teacher with 9 or 10 SR working along Taibah direct hires who are normally paid 15 SR plus.
