This is a follow-up and 'happy ending' to my last threads (midnight run, stat holidays). I tried a few more times today with different supervisors to ask for my vacation. I still didn't get the holidays. But I've decided to live with it, and we're all on very good terms now.

Sounds silly huh? Well, after having cooled down and pumped more weights today, I really want thank Dave for this site!!! Thanks also to those who responded! Being able to hash out my frustrations here and listen to advice made for very civil and courteous meetings with my supervisors today. If I didn't have a place to vent here, I know I'd have blown a gasket with my supervisors and later regretted it.

I made a phat case, yo, and didn't lose face, my request was denied but I took it in stride.

While we talked, they mentioned the May Day schedule. Since I know it now, I can plan the next two months. Knowing what to expect makes things a lot smoother. And a big bonus: students will take their mid-terms, so that's an unexpected two days off next week. Good timing, as I've got friends I want to visit in Anhui province.

I still have no intentions of staying on past June 30 here. When the day comes, I will march out that gate and never look back. But I want to to march out on good terms, not leave (or do a MR) on bitter terms. So on that note, it's easier now to handle future frustrations and unfair moves. I may not have my vacation, but I have a hopeful future. That makes all the difference.

Steve

Sometimes you just have to let it slide. The school I left last semester (China North Water Institute in Zhengzhou), I felt so much like taking them to arbitration, suing their buts, whatever. No desire to leave on good terms. Even they admit they owe me 500 yuan. I just said to myself, foget them, go on with life.
