I was told that I should get a voltage regulator for my American purchased electronic equipment, is this true?

US and Mexico share the same voltage and plugs. I don't actually know what a voltage regulator is, but the only thing I can think of that led to that advice is that the supply of electricity in Mexico is a bit erratic at times, with surges and whatnot. But as far as I can see, if that were a problem, the same would apply to Mexican-purchased equipment. Admittedly, I'm just using logic here, not specific technical knowledge!

I always though they were the same (being a Brit too) as well. I've used adaptors with UK electrical devices but they never seem to work as well here.

You also have 3 pin and 2 pin outlets here - are they the same voltage?

Same voltage, one has earth (or ground, I think the US calls it). A pain in the **** when your device has 3 pins, and the place where you are has 2 pin sockets, although there are adaptors available.

Thats right Phil. I have used 3 to 2 pin adapters all my life. You can get them at any decent electrical supply store and even at some bodegas.
