Hi Everyone,

Stirling University in Scotland does an MSc in TESOL, and I'm wondering how this would be seen by Gulf employers? Would it be viewed with suspicion seeing as most masters in TESOL are MA/MEd's?

I have an undergraduate degree in English already, would a PGDip in TESOL qualify me to get decent jobs in the Gulf?

Thanks,

p.s. pm me if you can.

For the Arab Gulf, a Masters degree is better than a Diploma/Certiificate.

And a Masters degree is a Masters degree.

I actually have a Masters Degree from Aston University in Birmingham, and the onkly time it has ever caused problems was when I tried to enter it on the on-line application form used by HCT. That was back in 2005.

The on-line form simply rejected it.

Nobody else has ever reacted that like that.

Rest assured that it wasn't because of any high standards held by HCT

HCT hires distance and online MAs... sounds like more of a glitch in the online app program.

Most locals here will not even look at a DIPLOMA. Masters - or best of all is DOCTORATE.

The utility of having a Doctorate when your students are all False Beginners or Lower Elementary Level has never been clear to me.

A qualification in infant teaching would be more appropriate for many jobs here. Froebel or Montessori anyone ?
