|

I have been a volunteer ESL tutor for over 2 years and find the work very rewarding. I have a BA (Cultural Anthropology.) I want to teach English in a Spanish speaking country and become fluent (or damn near it) in Spanish.
If I had my druthers I would have the name of an organization that employees and trains their EFL teachers to work in a South American (warm weather not ungodly hot) country. This company would pay a fare wage (I'd break even or do a little better); provide housing with a couple or family (private room & bath), who live within walking or biking distance from my work, where I could work (approx. 20 - 25 hours per week) with adults (only), take Spanish lessons and have very good internet connection (so I can Skype with friends and family).
Am I dreaming or does this exist?
Thanks |

To get it all in one place, yeah, you're setting your sights pretty high. Especially the high speed internet. (I have it, but it doesn't work all the time.)
Other than that, though- the nearest fit to what you're looking for that I can think of is EIL Ecuador, where I have worked for the last nearly (gulp) seven years. Teachers here break even, after housing and living- some save, but most are more interested in enjoying Ecuador. And Quito is equatorial of course, but at 9000 feet, it isn't hot.
Feel free to get in touch.
Best,
Justin |

Fare wage? Expect about 700 to 1000usd a month.
Housing nope
walking distance, and spanish and skype, that's possible |

Justin - Thanks for your reply. I'll get on line and check out EIL (if you tell me what it stands for). Ecuador is actually top on my list right now (second is Costa Rica then Panama - been to both places already). I want the experience of living outside of the states but I do like being comfortable; makes dealing with life's ups and downs easy.
I'm trying to schedule a trip to Venezuela and Ecuador in July; vacation and scout out a job. May I stay in touch? |

Naturegirl321, thank you for responding as well. As I said, I'm not trying to get rich I just don't want to go broke.
I'll keep researching? - Thanks. |

Seoul will be home base, due to my wife's job. I'll actually be freelancing a bit round Asia, and maybe the Middle East...
