Well, my long lost bag just arrived from the States. Now, I have my poker set.

Anyone down for some low-stakes Hold 'Em? I'm at a Q1 guesthouse, which isn't great for this, but I'm sure we can find a cool place.

Who's down for a friendly game, some spirits, and some music? I brought a great set of chips. We need a table, and maybe a fridge for the beer, and we're set Smile

Hi Carey, I arrive late Thursday nite, and would be happy to visit with you. I know a lot of us are watching your situation to see how you do, with your qualifications, if you cant find a decent job, the rest of us better plan on washing dishes or something. I am not really going to be looking for work, unless I find the atmosphere more receptive than what I have been led to believe from the sources I use. So I will be pretty free during business week daylight hours. Did you hook up with an xe om yet? I was using a very interesting one who works with several English teachers. His English is understandable, and he drives like a madman. Let me know if you need that contact. He is reliable. Hope you are having fun over there, we just had some nasty weather in Austin, but it looks like spring starts tomorrow. Are you wearing long pants all the time there? I wonder if the pollution seeps thru your skin if wearing shorts? Probably.

Hey Mark and all:

I start Monday at a software corporation p/t -- they have no clue about work permits, so I consider that temporary. I have other interest from a couple of Int'l schools, working at which would be just grand by me. Hours offerred at a language school, in March, though.

So, there are opportunities if one looks. My strategy hasn't included door knocking, so I imagine there is a LOT more opportunity than what is represented here. The English market is through the roof still and I imagine anyone not concerned about work permits can thus do 6 months here no problem.

Haven't thought about pollution seeping through my skin! Shorts and sandals except for job stuff and going out. I'm still alive Surprised On that note, the pollution in District 1 seems like it pales in comparison to that in the Phu Nhuan District, where I'll be working for a spell. There it's just... smokey... from fumes as people commute by the tens of thousands through that office district. I wouldn't mind spending some time in D7 to se what that's like, but the commute from there to Phu Nhuan would be too great. [/list]

(incidentally "wasted_ace" is my "poker name"; we have a trophy on which these are written.)
