| I don't know if Turkey has a regulation. But it also depends on the country of your destination. For example, in the US you can bring a maximum of $10,000 cash in to the country with you, I THINK. I would double check - just know that you'll probably want to comply with the laws of Turkey and whichever country your leaving/going to. |

| How would they even know you've got a pocket full of cash? Do they search you at the airports? (it's been years since I've flown). |

| I have never been searched or hassled in any way at Ataturk Airport in 12 years. The U.S. is much different (especially Kennedy Airport). |

| Well if body scanners get installed maybe they'll be able to see big wads of cash too... I don't know, I was just trying to answer the OP's question. |

You can carry as much as you like into and out of the US but if it's more then 10K you gotta fill out a form of some kind. Why would anyone be able to stop you from carrying any amount into or out of a country? You are allowed to wire amounts freely, aren't you? But then when you wire if, of course they have a paper trail on you.
By the way, did you all know we US citizens are supposed to register all our foreign bank accounts with the US government? some kind of anti-terror thing. |

| the usa is using 'terror' as an excuse to reduce liberties. they want to know everything about you now. it's very scary. Im not afraid of the Taliban, I'm afraid of the country that has its imperial armies in 133 countries on Earth!! |

| I'd agree wholeheartedly with that eclectic, and the uk government is just the same. The greatest threat a UK subject now faces is from their own government. |

I think we're getting a little off-topic here. I don't care about your thoughts on terrorism and politics.
I did a little online research and found that you can bring up to $10,000 cash into Turkey without declaring it, but that if you bring more than $5,000 cash out of the country you're supposed to declare it, I think so they can tax it or something. This info wasn't from an official source, just another Q and A forum. |

isnt that comment a bit hostile in a personal way, unnecessarily? |

i don't think it was hostile at all. You guys went off on a rant not related to the OP. The rant was much less pleasant to read then the poster's reminder to stay on topic. |

uhhhh, I AM the OP.
And a quick sentence or two is hardly a "rant". I think we have entered Bizarro World here, as Justin Raimondo has coined it. [/quote] |

Sorry, let me clarify: By OP I meant Original Post, not Original Poster. By poster I meant FishMB. That was really unclear, looking back.
Whenever people start talking about how scary any government is in a thread with an unrelated purpose I do tend to just toss it in the rant category. My bad. |

| No problem Listener. I understand the way you saw it at the time. Government criticisms really aren't relevant to this thread, it's true. |

| Do not take Korean Won to Turkey. Take US$ or Euros. If you can find a place to change your Won you will get a poor exchange rate. |
