You get different types of nutters though. I have worked with lovely warm hearted nutters and I have worked with evil vindictive nutters...... Hopefully I am the former. |

Oh so true dmb... and you always struck me as the former.
I suspect that some of our best memories of teaching in the ME involve those warm hearted nutters...

Well bje I'm no, raver, ranter, crackpot, weirdo, control freek, busybody or nutter. Don't know what makes you think that. I chose HCT because I haven't read about any fire to hire policies in operation there or any particular crackpot. I was not impressed with the glacial person who interviewed me for U of Q and did my ground work by reading the postings and networking with people who used to work there. That's what an enterprizing 'nutter' like me does. I check things out, see if I like them and if so, follow them up. I hope I don't run into you either at HCT if you've got such a biased point of view about people. I'm just an ordinary joe who wants to experience another culture and lifestyle. Is that a crime? Like squareandfair said, try looking up the Turtles sites - you might learn something. Are you an innovative teacher? I bet you aren't if you label people who ask questions as 'nutters'. |

Hey Celtababe
Things ain't so bad as before. I'd say go for it. Now VS I have good reason to say that - things are improvin...
But lady, make sure you ask for a villa before you accept and insist on it. Refuse the smelly noisy apartments. The good villas are out in a place called Garrfaa or something like that - out in Wabb the apartments stink but the villas are not so bad - but hey make sure you get a villa, lady I mean with kids, ya need the space. Singles get villas too.
We got our own Mr Fix-it - he's doin his job. |
Where is this Mr. Fix-it? I haven't met or seen him. How does he fix things. Everything at Zuhoor is smelly! |

Dear scot47,
Ah, it's sad to see the memory falter. Do not go gentle into that good night.
And mind your Qs and Ps.

Things are improving huh???? Thanks to people like us who let the chicken out the bag, otherwise QU would be a deep well/cemetery for teachers.
As far as I am concerned, things improved slightly, that's all! The working environment is still hostile and relationships between teachers are really turbulent.
Go & see! Interview teachers and decide! Good luck! |
I don't see any turbulence. What I do see is a lot of paranoia because of the appraisal system. The e-portfolio should be done at the end of the second semester, not the first. Newbies have no time to adjust to all the new things shoved at them. It's unreasonable to ask us to do this by January 21. Newbies have only been here for 4 months. I'd say it is not only unreasonable, unrealistic but unprofessional. Let people teach two semesters before shoving this at them. |

Perhaps if you can't handle the job, you should have chosen to leave during the probationary period.
You do not seem to be adjusting to a different system that you have been used to...

How long does it take to get an offer or decline notice after an interview with QU? |

'No, I said nothing about Saudi. I'm located in the UAE, and I don't really want too many more of them where I work...[/quote]
Based on hundreds posts, I can easily deduct that you are one of them.
Just my opinion, |
