Anyone know if the Raytheon job employs Brits or is it just North American?

What about the bs:
"Raytheon is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability, or Vietnam era, or other eligible veteran status, or any other protected factor. "????

This is just boilerplate. The reality is that they hire only Americans. Not only that, they hire only men because that, of course, is what the Saudis insist on. Since they're an American company, they'd be asking for all kinds of grief by saying "men only" in their ads--that's illegal in the USA. So they have actually wasted all sorts of money by flying women who applied for the job, not to mention wasting the women's time, to Massachusetts for interviews for jobs that have no chance whatsoever of getting.

US citizens and residents only. I did know of one UK teacher with Raytheon, but they apparently made an exception for him - and that was 20 years ago.

You are well out of it. I interviewed with these guys in Boston...which turned out to be only a formality. They were ready to hire anybody with the barest qualifications and a US passport...ASAP.
The job sucks...bad students, bad housing, mediocre salary, no exit/re-entry visa..and to top it off...only 3 weeks leave per year!!!
Imagine...49 straight weeks in the Holy Land... the Saudis themselves get a longer reprieve than that.
The job is open to US citzens only ..a requirement of the US Dept. of Defense and the KSA government. If it were up to Raytheon, they'd hire Haitian refugees for $5 a day.

Oh, God! I did that interview back in '04. Did you have to interview with the Saudi officer stationed there? I sat down with the guy at 1pm and didn't get out of there till 5pm and that was only because I had a medical appointment. He spent four hours discussing Islamic history and trying to convert me to Islam! The American secretary consoled me when it was over saying no one had had to endure what I did. She also told me I was too nice and should have just walked out but I really wanted the job. It may have been just a formality but it was an incredibly long one!

Raytheon paid $41,000 when I was there 1992-94 and we got a month off. You mean they've reduced the vacation to 3 weeks? What's the pay these days?

The students were awful. A couple of reasons: The institute's head officer was only a captain. The other reason was that nobody really failed. Where I am now they have a couple of colonels to keep the muttonheads in line...and if they fail, they actually flunk out! And...officers and grunts alike are friendly and respectful. Who knew??

At Raytheon they had officers telling teachers their mothers were tramps because they weren't muslim.

I knew lots of these guys when I was working in Jeddah '96-'02. Not a happy crew - but some of them tolerated it because of the $$$$$$'s.
