Hello everyone:

I am seeking to teach in Turkey next year and would prefer to teach adults in a university setting. I have a MEd degree in TESOL from the University of South Florida and 5 years of ESL teaching experience with both children and adults. Most of my teaching has been in the US in private and nonprofit settings, although I did spend an academic year teaching in France at a teacher's training institute.

Besides my MEd degree I have BA degrees in English and French. I have a temporary teaching certificate from the state of Florida, but have not completed the professional certificate.

Given my MEd degree and experience should I be concerned about not having a professional state sponsored certificate? Also, with my experience and qualifications, what positions am I qualified for in Turkey?

Thank you for your help!

You don't need a state sponsored certificate, so dont' worry about that. You've got a lot of qualifications. You would definitely be competitive for university positions and probably stand a good shot at getting them.

Good luck!

Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it. Do you have any recommendations for quality schools/universities to contact about opportunities?

Thanks again!

Well people have made some recommendations here are there on this forum that you could probably find with a search - I can't remember any off the top of my head. I haven't applied to any universities. Other people on this forum will hopefully make some recommendations, but definitely browse through the archives a bit.
