Dear dmb,
I think this "blade business" is really getting out of hand. From one blade, we went to two, to three and now I hear there's going to be one with four blades. Yikes - where will it stop? I mean, pretty soon we're going to need to use both hands to hold the razor.
Regards,
John |

mach 3 turbo!?
*beep*! I'm jealous as hell. My disposable razors only have 2 blades. How stupid do I feel...
I recently upgraded my head-shaver-thing (I have a shaved head) to one that has titanium blades. Same material that they make space-shuttles out of you-know. So, the next time I'm coming in out of orbit and need a number-2 then I won't need to worry about my shaver burning up on re-entry. I'd like to think that when Al-Qaeda get nukes (and, consequently, when New York and London get blown to hell) my head-shaver will remain undamaged. |

Can I recommend waxing which I do for my legs? As for the face, I had some very persistent dark hairs on my top lip and I can assure you that there is nothing to beat a few minutes electrolysis to get the endorphins going to deaden the pain.
I think I now understand masochism, although have absolutely no intention on indulging further.
As for bigger areas and less frequent early morning work, guys, I think you may have to resort to laser stuff. Not sure of the cost benefit between time + razors versus treatment costs, but I feel this thread ought to have all the options put forward....
Hmm - this bottle of Cava appears to be almost empty.... |

| I start work at 0530 every morning. I can not see electrolysis part of my daily regime at that time in the morning |

Do it on your day off or after work - that way you won't go to work looking like somebody just belted you or that you have extremely localised sunburn. |

Nope, thank goodness. I have adult students and that might open a whole new can of worms.

I personally like the pivoting head innovation. We wouldn't want anyone taxing their wrists with such arduous labour, now would we?
As an aside, are there any former football (N.A.) players out there? Hairless from mid-shin down to the ankle?

I agree. I have tried several razors with three blades in the past, but I didn't like any of them. I decided a few years ago that no matter how cool a new blade might look in commercials, I will no longer succumb to marketing hype.
I am a Schick guy myself...no blade can compete with my trusty old Schick Tracer FX!
Cheers,

dmb,
No jealousy here. I tried the Mach 3 Turbo, didn't see what all the fuss was about and promptly went back to using the ole Mach 3, which suits me quite nicely. I don't really see the improved difference with the Turbo other than a nifty red color, slick advertising and the inevitable price increase.
Actually I've recently heard that single blade razors are good because they can give you a close shave and won't allow ingrown hairs, which are caused by the hair curling back into the skin and creating those damned red bumps.
Shaving is a bit of a science, really, and I've been studying it the past few months to get the best shave possible. Some mornings are better than others.
Good luck to all, both men and women, in their quest for the perfect shave!

John,
I agree. Somewhere we have to draw the line regarding the number of blades. Three is my limit. The aforementioned Gilette Quatro (sic?) with its four blades is too much for me. I'm not buying into their quasi-slick ad campaigns.

Imo any more than one blade is superfluous. Does anyone use triple bladed turbo steak knives with SupaGlide TM inserts? No? I wonder why?
Some people will believe anything |

Anyone got any tips for Brazilians? Whenever I've given a chick one (a Brazilian that is) she always gets a nasty rash. What delicate little flowers they are Doesn't matter if the blade is old or new, or if you use soap or canola oil - always a lumpy, spotty rash, usually followed by ingrown hairs (eewww) So, what's the approved nether-region defoliation procedure? |
Nair Bikini is the way to go. |
