Seriously, the $2 plastic things aren't going to do it for me. Anyone know where there are better helmets?

There are some shops across from New World Hotel--not the park side, the opposite side. The one near the end sells 'Zeus' helmets, which have a good reputation. I think they sell for 200,000 vnd.

Cthomas,

for a real helmet, you should go with the top brands, such as Shoei and others.

This might mean ordering it from abroad.

I recomment getting a full face-mask.

Shoei, Arai are the 2 best full face helmets but I have not seen them here. They would be extremely hot even if you could get one here. I have a Honda helmet which is a half helmet. Comes in 2 styles, with full face shield and half face shield. Same price 250,000VND at Honda dealers. They are a higher quality helmet although not DOT approved

as mickey mouse as these are. It seems like a symbolic rule, do these cheap ones offer any protection at all? I am always amazed at the lack of compliance on the rule also, as well as most other rules of the road we would expect. I had heard last year that small children were going to have to use helmets too, but it seems like they decided to drop that one? Anyone know what happened there? Always love to see a two year old standing on the seat between the rest of the family, wearing some kind of a fishnet thing over his/her head. Like the tightrope artist with no net, kind of a national symbol. Beautiful, yet tragic.
