I haven't been to SA, but in the surrounding countries, I was treated much better (in general) with the scarf... at least to my face (who knows what they said in Arabic   ) |

Are you a girl... or a "girl"? Or just curious? Hiawatha is, after all, a "boy's" name.
I can only answer this related to the rest of the Gulf and I'd say no, but I've never been in Saudi. I don't know where our female posters with Saudi experience are right now... semester break travels?

Well, if you are in the Magic Kingdom, the treatment will depend on the colour of your scarf! If it is not a black one, then expect a 'notice' from the muttawa who will advise you to wear a black hijab and black scarf. But, in general, and in administration, public offices, and the airport, you will be treated with respect and a smile (of course this happens if your eyes are blue/green ).
Do not expect the Muttawa to smile on your face! |

Did you notice that we posted together at exactly the same time? With the opposite experience... but then I was always treated well except by the Kuwait bureaucracy... but they are equal opportunity boors who do not discriminate based on sex, race, nationality, or religion... they treat everyone like crap.
